This built-in bookcase was designed to transform a previously vacant alcove into useful storage and display space.  Storage space within this small home is at a premium.   Twelve durable shelves provide ample space to store books of various sizes and display keepsakes.

The design included two glass and walnut cases to display ducks.  Built-in adjustable lights illuminate these display cases.

Subtle details add up to make this an elegant and functional bookcase.  All shelf openings are bordered by a mitered bead.  The crown molding transitions to the ceiling and adjacent walls.  The base molding completes a seamless transition to the floor and walls.  A carefully selected paint color blends the bookcase with its surroundings.
